How We Work

Understanding Your Needs

When you have identified an issue which needs to be addressed the first stage is to have an initial meeting to discuss both your requirements and the ways in which we could work together to meet them. Once we have jointly established a number of parameters such as timescale, budget and the level of internal resources available to support the project we can produce a detailed proposal with an estimate of the consultancy fees involved. Any initial meeting and discussions are without obligation or cost of course.

Working Together

Following acceptance of our proposal, our Client Relationship Manager and the Consultants who will be involved in the project will meet with you to draw up a project programme and timetable, define objectives and criteria for success. We will also agree a process for monitoring and reviewing project progress and how any ‘lessons learned’ will be shared.

All our consultancy assignments are based on sound research and a commitment to action. We have found from experience that using an internal project team of line managers who can act as champions is very positive in building ownership and support to any initiative.

Our Flexible Approach

Our clients have a diverse range of requirements, ranging from large scale strategic projects to one-off specific projects. In addition a number of our clients use our specialist expertise to help where they may only have general knowledge.

We refer to these varying levels of support as the Three S Approach.

Strategic
Our services positioned at the strategic level include reviewing current policies, processes and practices to ensure that they are aligned with current and future business needs. Where necessary we develop new strategies and associated implementation plans. In undertaking this work whilst we take account of best market practice we do not allow ourselves to become a slave to it. Our view is that each client is different and today’s best market practice is not necessarily the best solution. We provide solutions that are pragmatic, deliverable and give our clients competitive advantage.
Specific
We can either manage or provide technical support and advice to specific projects to design and implement new HR policies, processes and practices. Examples include Management Development Programmes, individual recruitment/assessment projects or the design of a bonus scheme.
“Sounding-Board”
We know it’s a cliché, but really, no job is too small for Anne Shaw Consultants! We provide ad hoc consultancy advice either by providing a second opinion on a particular issue, acting as “devil’s advocate” when reviewing and commenting on internal papers, or preparing discussion documents on specific topics. Many HR professionals have felt more confident submitting proposals to their Board or senior team after having them “destruction tested” by one of our experts.
